Featured on NBC's Today Show, CBS Evening News, Fox News, USA Today, Washington Post and the Travel Channel, walk in the steps of heroes at the Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum. Guests can step aboard three museum ships: USS Yorktown CV-10, Essex-class aircraft carrier; USS Laffey DD-724, Sumner-class naval destroyer; and USS Clamagore SS-343, GUPPY III submarine. In addition, 29 aircraft are on display from conflicts ranging from World War II to present-day operations. The national Congressional Medal of Honor Museum is also currently located aboard the USS Yorktown. On the landside of the museum there is a true-to-scale exhibit of a Vietnam-era Naval Support Base (currently closed for renovations, reopening by Veterans Day 2014) and also a Cold War Sub Memorial.
Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum also offers one of the largest education and overnight camping programs in the nation, with more than 40,000 school-age children attending these programs each year. We offer structured programs focusing on history, science and technology curriculum course work. For more than 30 years, organized groups of 10 or more have been camping overnight aboard the USS Yorktown. Campers sleep in the berthing areas where the sailors once slept and learn about naval and aviation history. Each camping package includes self-guided tours, meals and entertainment, plus an on-site educational program.
Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum is also available as an event location. There are 18 different spaces aboard the museum’s ships and surrounding property that can accommodate groups of 15 to 4,000.

Company History
Patriots Point Development Authority was established in the 1970s to develop a naval & maritime museum on Charleston Harbor with the World War II aircraft carrier, USS YORKTOWN as its centerpiece. It’s also home to the Patriots Point Museum and a fleet of National Historic Landmark ships, the Cold War Memorial and the only Vietnam Experience Exhibit in the U.S., the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, and the agency's official Medal of Honor Museum.

Since opening in 1976, Patriots Point has become one of the the state's most popular tourist attractions with more than 300,000 visitors each year.
