Company History
Established in 1945 as the "Susan B. Anthony Memorial, Inc," the National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House is now celebrating its 75th Anniversary of interpreting history to inspire civic engagement. The focal point of the Anthony Museum is 17 Madison Street, the National Historic Landmark that was Susan B. Anthony's home base for her most politically active years. It was also the headquarters of the National American Woman's Suffrage Association when she was its president. In 1872, she was arrested in the front parlor of this home after daring to vote in the presidential election. The Anthony Museum is now a campus of four buildings (including three 19th century homes) located in the the Susan B. Anthony Preservation District in a diverse, urban neighborhood. The Anthony Museum received its absolute charter as a museum in 2011 and recently completed a major restoration.
