Museum for Art in Wood

Company Overview

Description
The Museum for Art in Wood interprets, nurtures, and champions creative engagement and expansion of art, craft, and design in wood to enhance the public’s understanding and appreciation of it. A unique, and fast-paced museum with a dynamic exhibitions program and diverse art collection, the Museum seeks a detail-oriented, enterprising, and visually perceptive Manager of Exhibitions. Working as part of an energetic and collaborative staff, the Manager of Exhibitions will steer the organization of creative, thought-provoking, and informative exhibitions, designing and coordinating installations that are transformative, accessible, and impactful, in physical spaces and digital environments.

Organizational Background
Since its inception in 1986, the Museum for Art in Wood (formerly the Center for Art in Wood, the Wood Turning Center), has been widely recognized by artists, collectors, scholars and the public as one of the most valuable resources for the education, preservation and promotion of art made from wood. The Museum currently houses over 1,200 permanent collection objects and 25,000 artist files and mounts 4–5 exhibitions of new work and museum collection objects annually. It stages the Windgate international residency program every summer and holds a variety of educational events on-site and virtually.

The Museum aims to widen the discourse and audience for art, craft, and design in wood and create a space for the public to learn, enjoy, and be inspired.
