Florida Southern College
Company Overview
Florida Southern is located on a 113-acre campus, with 63 structures, including the world's largest single-site collection of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. New buildings include a state-of-the-art technology building; 10-court, intercollegiate tennis center; archive building; nursing building; Roberts Academy (grades 1-6 laboratory school for children with dyslexia); humanities building; and two spectacular new residence halls on the lakefront. The last three were designed by Robert A.M. Stern, dean of the Yale School of Architecture. Currently under construction are the Fannin Campus Ministries Center and the Sharp Center for Tourism and Education, which includes the construction of a Usonian House (this is the first time in more than 60 years that a Frank Lloyd Wright building is being built for the original client on the original site).
The campus also comprises a modern auditorium that seats 2,000, a student-recital auditorium that seats 200, a communications building equipped with its own computer labs and television studio, a remodeled dining hall and a cyber café located within the library, a state-of-the-art fitness and wellness center with an Olympic swimming pool and gymnasium, ball fields, soccer venue, and intramural facilities that are host to soccer, basketball, tennis, and a variety of other activities.
Students
Florida Southern is home to more than 2,000 undergraduate students (41% male; 59% female) from 43 states and 39 countries. Our campus is highly residential with nearly 75% of students living in college-owned housing.
Faculty
Florida Southern has an extraordinary faculty of teacher-scholars deeply committed to their students' success. There are 116 full-time professors, 85% of whom hold the highest degree in their field. The College is the recipient of the nationally-prestigious William Burke Award for Experiential Learning.
Student-Faculty Ratio
The College boasts a 13:1 student-faculty ratio with an average class size of 20. All classes are taught by professors.
Athletics
The Florida Southern College Moccasins compete in the NCAA Division II's Sunshine State Conference and include student-athletes on 20 varsity sports. The Mocs are proud of our 27 NCAA Division II national championship titles and more than 683 All-American athletes. FSC offers 24 intramural sports, in which almost 50% of all students participate.
Activities
Florida Southern students are actively engaged in more than 70 clubs and organizations, including special interest clubs, Student Government Association, Young Republicans, Young Democrats, sororities and fraternities, and many more! Students are nationally known for outstanding leadership skills, which result from numerous opportunities to contribute to campus life. Students are also very involved in student service projects and volunteer more than 30,000 hours each year to benefit local agencies. This level of community services has led to the College inclusion for the last five years in the President's Honor Roll of Service.
Residents Halls
Florida Southern College is a residential college with a strong belief that an important part of a student's education is achieved within the group living atmosphere maintained in its residence halls. Single and double rooms, suites, and more are available in a variety of modern residence halls. FSC Resident Advisors are outstanding campus leaders who coordinate exciting and fun hall activities.

The College is located in Lakeland, Florida - one of Florida's most beautiful cities, in the heart of Florida's high-tech corridor. The campus is situated on the shores of Lake Hollingsworth, home to the FSC water-ski team. The 3-mile lake perimeter walking trail is a favorite gathering place for students, faculty, and staff. The city has wonderful restaurants, theaters, golf courses, shopping options, and museums. Lakeland is a short drive to Orlando, Tampa, and some of the nation's most popular beaches.
Notable Accomplishments / Recognition
Founded in 1883, Florida Southern College, known for its stellar academic reputation with nationally-recognized faculty who are experts in engaged learning, provides its graduates with a solid foundation to make positive, consequential contributions to society. The Moccasins have won 27 national athletic championships. The campus is also home to the largest single-site collection of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture in the world. In 2012, it was designated a National Historic Landmark and for the last two years has been named the #1 "Most Beautiful Campus in America" by The Princeton Review. FSC's Roberts Academy is the only elementary school for children with dyslexia in Florida and serves as a laboratory school for education majors.
Florida Southern College is a private, comprehensive college that offers 50 undergraduate majors in the liberal arts, professional programs, and pre-professional programs, as well as distinctive graduate programs in business, nursing, and education.
