We are seeking a highly motivated, qualified professional to join our organization in the capacity of Director of Public Health. We are located at the confluence of two countries, the United States and Mexico; and three states, Texas, Chihuahua and New Mexico. We serve just under 700,000 residents, making the City of El Paso the 20th largest city in the United States and the 6th largest city in Texas. The City has the perfect setting for hiking and biking at the Franklin Mountains State Park; while Hueco Tanks is one of the premier locations for rock climbing. El Paso is also home to Fort Bliss, the fastest-growing U.S. Army installation in the United States and a vital part of the City’s economy. Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center house the only four-year medical school located on the U.S./Mexico border.

The City of El Paso operates under a progressive and successful Council/Manager form of government and employs 6,620 employees. We are a high performing customer focused organization that offers a teamfocused environment and a comprehensive benefits package. Governed by a nine member City Council including the Mayor. The Council enacts local ordinances and resolutions, adopts the annual budget, reviews and approves the annual comprehensive plan, conducts public hearings and establishes policy. The City Manager reports to the City Council and is responsible for execution of the policies established by the Council and the day-to-day administration of the municipal organization.
