College Park Aviation Museum
Company Overview
The College Park Aviation Museum is one of several museums and historic sites owned and operated by the Natural and Historical Resources Division (NHRD) of the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission (MNCPPC). The museum's mission is to preserve and promote aviation innovations at College Park Airport and in Prince George's County while fostering research, inventiveness, and lifelong curiosity about the history and science of flight.
The museum is adjacent to the historic College Park Airport which is the world's oldest continuously operating airport and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum interprets the history of the College Park Airport and the series of aviation firsts that happened on the airfield, including the Wright Brother's instructing the first military aviators how to fly. The museum averages 40,000 visitors each year. The Field of Firsts Foundation, an independent non-profit organization, helps raise support for educational programs and exhibits as well as visibility for the museum.
