Company Overview
In operation since 1972, the Armstrong Air & Space museum is among the largest and best attended of the more than 50 member sites of the Ohio History Connection. The Ohio History Connection maintains a management agreement with the Armstrong Air & Space Museum Association, the local authority for the facility. The Armstrong Air & Space Museum is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.
The Armstrong Air & Space Museum was named Institution of the Year by the Ohio Museums Association in 2016.
In July 2018 the Armstrong Air & Space Museum broke ground on a $2.3 million expansion to create the Neil Armstrong STEM Inspiration Center, slated to open in July 2019. The initiative will significantly expand state-of-the-art educational space within the facility. More importantly, the project will enable the Armstrong Museum to create new distance learning options for students, teachers, and educational institutions. The goal of the expansion is to extend the museum's footprint and impact to every corner of the earth. Current institutional partners of the Armstrong Museum include: NASA Glenn Research Center, National Aviation Heritage Alliance, National Museum of the United States Air Force, and the Ohio Northern University T.J. Smull College of Engineering, among others.
The Armstrong Museum is located in Wapakoneta, Ohio, a community of 10,000 that provides all the charms of an historic Midwestern county seat in close proximity to the amenities and cultural offerings of Ohio's major metropolitan areas.
