Company Profile

Allen County Historical Society

Company Overview

The Allen County Museum is a county owned facility operated by the private, non-profit Allen County Historical Society. Located in Lima, Allen County, Ohio, the Museum is an AAM accredited institution, that collects, preserves, and interprets the history of the county, and beyond, to the visiting public. The Museum is the number one attraction in the county and houses exhibits, a genealogical and local history library, railroad archives, and the Children’s Discovery Center. The Historical Society also operates the historic MacDonell House, an 1893 Victorian mansion. With a strong educational focus, and active volunteer program, the Museum is a regional hub for school tours.

The recently expanded facility has provided opportunities to share more of the organization’s diverse collections and expand programming. Strategic planning has identified new initiatives in marketing and development occurring together with shifting resources from the public to the private sector. As the Museum and Historical Society position themselves within this transformation, we look forward to working with a dynamic leader who will help to shape this 21st century vision.
